Breaking & Training

We use an advanced method of tracking every horse in training at our facility. Our riders carry this software on them while riding, alerting them of their time on the track, distance and current speed. We keep records of every horse, every day, allowing owners and trainers access to any record at their request. Our riders are skilled in many diverse disciplines of riding and are not just restricted to racing. We Saddle break any horse for any discipline so they may move onto their career in a relaxed manner.

Young horses at our facility start by learning the basics; picking up feet, being bathed and groomed on a daily basis and accepting equipment such as a saddle and a bit. Our skilled, but gentle riders will teach your young horse the basics of having a rider placed on their back and will start to teach them the basics on how to navigate with a rider. Our riders teach your horse to be confident, allowing him or her to focus on what really matters.

Race Training

For racehorses, after your horse learns these basics within the week, they will be introduced to a lead pony that will guide them on our training track. Young horses are guided around our training track while our lead ponies stay for company. Your horse will soon enough learn the basics of being ridden and will then go into company with other young horses.

With training, all horses are taught to load into a starting gate as they prepare to work in company with others. They will see other horses on the track and soon grasp a racing environment to move onto their next venture.

Race Conditioning

Whether a young horse just starting out, or an older horse who needs some time off from the track life and a little R&R, we offer conditioning without the busy and stressful life of the race track. Horses enjoy the open spaces of our farm and the relaxed pace of training allowing relaxation and no stress.

Show Breaking and Training

We teach all of our show horses proper ground manners, as well as confidence while being ridden. We introduce them to new sights and sounds, working with them daily to strive to be the best they can be in a relaxed manner. We offer many training options depending on the owner's wants and needs such as trailering off the facility grounds to events, schooling shows, trail rides and more.

Maui Meadow Farm specializes in the re-training of off track thoroughbreds for second careers. We have installed newly built jumps and ring, teaching your horse to adjust from retiring from their racing career and relaxing into their next venture.

Problem Horses

Maui Meadow Farm accepts all horses of breeds and disciplines. No horse is too big or too small to and no behavior too small or too extreme to correct. All horses are given the chance to learn in a fun environment, breaking a sour attitude and encouraging correct manners.
